The area of Punjab can be divided into three regions:
Malwa Region
This is a region of Punjab comprise of 11 districts Cities such as Ludhiana, Patiala, Bhatinda and Mohali. Some parts of this region lie in Haryana
Majha Region
This region consists of Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran. It lies between two of the five great rivers of the Punjab: the Ravi and the Sutlej.
Doaba Region
This region of Punjab State is surrounded by the rivers Beas and Sutlej. The name "Doaba" literally translates to "land of two rivers" ("Do" two, "Ab" river; Punjabi). It is one of the most fertile regions of the world, and was the centre of the Green Revolution in India. To this day, it remains one of the largest per capita producers of wheat in the world. The biggest cities in Doaba are Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Adampur, Nawansher and Phagwara.
Climate of Punjab
Areas like Adampur and Amritsar experiences temperature of -1 degrees in winters. In summers the temperature crosses the 40 degree mark. Annual temperatures in Punjab range from −2 to 40 °C (min/max), but can reach 47 °C (117 °F) in summer and −4 °C in winter
