How to Reach Pathankot New District of Punjab
Pathankot is a New Distict of Punjab now. Earlier Pathankot was in Gurdaspur District of Punjab. Pathankot is about 480 Kms from Delhi and is well connected by an express Highway.
Pathankot is an important link because on one side it is connected to Himachal and on the other side to Jammu. People who visit Himachal Pradesh go via Pathankot as Pathankot Junction is the nearest Railway Station for major tourist attractions in Himachal Pradesh like Dharamshala, Palampur, Dalhousie Chamba Mani Mahesh Bharmaur etc.
From Delhi you can take GT Karnal Road to reach Jalandhar via Ambala and Ludhiana. From Jalandhar you need to take Jammu Highway that will lead you to Pathankot. Itakes around 8-9 hours from Delhi to reach Pathankot. Jammu is around 120 Kms from Pathankot
Toy trains to Himachal Pradesh also starts from Pathankot. The narrow guage toy trains runs from Pathankot to Joginder Nagar, Pathankot to Palampur via Kangra and Chamunda.
Tourists also prefer toy trains from Pathankot to Kangra Palampur and Baijnath.
